It is so cool how many people are responding to Savannah, Buy Local This Holiday Season! Keep all of the awesome suggestions coming, they are greatly appreciated!
Todays shopping info is all about handmade in Savannah! As I have mentioned before, there is a really cool website
www.etsy.com where you can click on shop locally and enter your zip code for a huge array of local artists.
I also became aware of "Christmas Made in the South" going on this weekend, November 13-15, at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Christmas in the South is a unique show, that feature hundreds of talented artists and skilled master craftsmen. So if you are looking for homemade craft ideas or something handmade to give as gifts then check Christmas Made in the South this weekend. (it is supposed to rain so what better way to spend a soggy weekend!)
Another great site to check out is shopSCAD- 340 Bull Street-A great place to shop for handmade fashion, stationary, baby items, art, jewelry, bath and gifts. According to their website:"We love our SCAD students. No, really. We love them and their work so much that we created a shop here in Savannah, then another in Atlanta, and then when we really needed to show that our love hath no bounds, we then decided to make their work accessible to the world through our remarkable Web site! (That’ll show them!) Aaahhh... la bonne vie!"
Here are a few other great handmade local artists for you to check out!
1.JustGrace Designs Jewelry designer Justine Vanderlugt has been designing beautiful pieces in Savannah for years. Most of the gentle pearls and stones used in her designs are reused. Justine is always trying to find ways to incorporate this philosophy into her product line. She wishes that one day every company will make a conscious effort to do the same.
