JEWELRY!!

Since I have lived in Savannah, more than 25 years, there has been only one store that my family has shopped for diamonds and gems. Levy's. Just to mention that you bought yours at Levy's tells a person that it is a special piece of jewelry that will more than likely be in your family for generations. Along with Levy's there are other very talented artists and jewelers in Savannah. There is something for all price ranges and tastes.
Please click on the name to visit each website:

Levy Jewelers-In Savannah & the Coastal Empire, we are the exclusive providers of many of the finest nationally recognized jewelry brand names such as Ebel, David Yurman, John Hardy, Lauren K., Roberto Coin, Charles Krypell, Cassis, Mikimoto, Lladro', Christopher Radko Waterford, Simon Pearce and Waterford, just to name a few. We would be happy to open an in-house charge account for you, offering 90-day accounts with no finance charges. 3 Savannah locations :Ogelthorpe Mall, Savannah Mall and 101 East Broughton Street

Handmade in the S-A-V

It is so cool how many people are responding to Savannah, Buy Local This Holiday Season! Keep all of the awesome suggestions coming, they are greatly appreciated!

Todays shopping info is all about handmade in Savannah! As I have mentioned before, there is a really cool website www.etsy.com where you can click on shop locally and enter your zip code for a huge array of local artists.

I also became aware of "Christmas Made in the South" going on this weekend, November 13-15, at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Christmas in the South is a unique show, that feature hundreds of talented artists and skilled master craftsmen. So if you are looking for homemade craft ideas or something handmade to give as gifts then check Christmas Made in the South this weekend. (it is supposed to rain so what better way to spend a soggy weekend!)

Another great site to check out is shopSCAD- 340 Bull Street-A great place to shop for handmade fashion, stationary, baby items, art, jewelry, bath and gifts. According to their website:"We love our SCAD students. No, really. We love them and their work so much that we created a shop here in Savannah, then another in Atlanta, and then when we really needed to show that our love hath no bounds, we then decided to make their work accessible to the world through our remarkable Web site! (That’ll show them!) Aaahhh... la bonne vie!"

Here are a few other great handmade local artists for you to check out!

1.JustGrace Designs Jewelry designer Justine Vanderlugt has been designing beautiful pieces in Savannah for years. Most of the gentle pearls and stones used in her designs are reused. The glass she uses comes from bottles that were thrown away in the sea. Her sterling silver clay pieces come from reprocessing of old film and her line of ponchos will incorporate soy based materials. Justine is always trying to find ways to incorporate this philosophy into her product line. She wishes that one day every company will make a conscious effort to do the same. You can purchase her jewelry at DC2, Cutting Crew, Vanilla Day Spa, Savannah Day Spa, Westin Savannah Resort and many more. Check out her website for more locations!

2.Tybee Metalsmith and Jewelry ShopHandcrafted by Tybee Island metalsmith, Michael G. Pappas. These unique jewelry pieces are sure be a conversation starter everytime you wear them!

3. PanHandle Girl Production- Handmade here in the lowcountry. Panhandle Girl offers unique, retro style soaps, cremes, balms and gift sets.

4. Threads of Grey- Proceeds benefit the American Brain Tumor Association. Visit this site to purchase one of a kind, shoulder bags, wristlets, coin purses and more. Most recently seen at Savannah's Geekend.

5.Cul De Sac- For unique tea towels, coasters and kitchen and household linens. These beautiful designs are sure to go with your decor.

I hope this list is helpful to you in some way. Please let me know of how I may improve this site ro if you want your website/store included. I try to include everyone so please be patient or nudge me from time to time if I forget! :)

These Boots Were Made for Walking

Ahhh, my weakness. Shoes. Can you ever have too many? Is it humanly possible? I don't think so. In my research, I found that there are very few affordable shoe stores in Savannah but there is still plenty to choose from if you are a woman. If you are a man or child...well there are slim pickin's.

1. Petite Feet- 5521 Abercorn Street- This very cute children's shoe boutique is new to Savannah. Your NEW Spot for Penny Loafers, Dirty Bucks, Topsiders, Wallabees, Saddle Oxfords, Tennis Shoes, Mary Janes, and more! Call them at 349-4292

2. Globe Shoe Company-17 E Broughton Street and 5500 Abercorn Street- Savannah's oldest shoe establishment opened its doors in 1892! I have personally bought UGGs and Danskos from them and my mother is on a first name basis with all of the associates. They treat you like family from the moment you walk in. 232-8161 or 352-1158

3. Copper Penny Shooz- 22 W. Broughton Street-Copper Penny has been a favorite for twenty years. Copper Penny has been honored with many local as well as national awards and is frequently mentioned in many national magazines, i.e. Lucky, In Style, Oprah, and Cosmopolitan. Several locations recently served as the setting for an episode of TLC's “Makeover Story.” As our staff has grown from two to sixty, we have not compromised our service or selection. We are pleased to be dressing women in high style and look forward to doing so for many years to come.
My favorite time to shop Copper Penny is their after Thanksgiving sale and After Christmas sale. 629-6800

Where is your favorite local spot for shoes? Please feel free to share either here or on my Facebook Fan Page.
